Monte Rosa Mountains Here Eagles Dare, The territory of the municipality, an important tourist center internationally known for the practice of off-piste skiing, occupies the top end of the Val Grande, at the foot of Monte Rosa (4638 m asl), with which it is connected by a cable car, and is inside the area of the Natural Park Alta Valsesia. Two mountains do not belong to the group of Monte Rosa are the sides: the Black Horn 3320 m high and the famous Monte Tagliaferro 2964 m. The town borders the Valle d’Aosta through the Col d’Olen, from which branches off the valley of Gressoney and Switzerland. It is crossed by the River Sesia (which form spectacular waterfalls, accessible by a path from Alagna), by Olen Bors and streams, whose basin originates from the glaciers of Monte Rosa, and Mud and Otro streams that originate from the mountain Tagliaferro and Corno white respectively. The group of Monte Rosa just before Alagna From the valley floor, where is situated the country, branch out five side valleys: the Val d’Otro, with the characteristic perfectly preserved Walser villages and massive rocky mass of Corno Bianco (3320 m); Valle d’Olen, traversed by the ancient trail that, through the Col d’Olen, leading to Gressoney-La-Trinité; Valley Bors, with its rich pastures in the Middle Ages belonged to the counts of Biandrate; the Sesia Valley, with its high peaks and its spectacular glaciers, but also with the popular route, through the pass Turlo, connects it with Macugnaga and Anzasca valley; the Valley of Mud, traveled by mule track that leads to Rima in Val Sermenza, with the characteristic profile of Mount Tagliaferro (2964 m).
